Phase-to-phase short circuit in distribution box

A phase-to-phase (P-P) fault is a type of short circuit where two of a system's live conductors make direct electrical contact, bypassing the intended load. In a typical three-phase system, power is transmitted across three separate conductors, each carrying a voltage wave shifted. Chapter 10 explains the calculation of currents in the event of a short circuit somewhere in the network. For various types of short circuits, it is extensively described how, based on the internationally recognized standard IEC 60909, the current at the short circuit location and the contribution. Electrical faults are abnormal conditions within a power distribution system that cause current and voltage to deviate significantly from their intended paths and values. These disturbances, which can occur in transmission lines, substations, or distribution networks, pose a constant threat to the. Sequence fault current for a phase-phase fault (Line to Line fault) is given by: Where Vf is the per unit system line to neutral voltage (usually 1pu) and Z1 and Z2 are the positive and negative sequence impedance of the system and Zf is the fault impedance which could be zero for a dead short. As of this update, Service Disconnect Switches, Surge Protective Devices, Switchboards, Switchgear, and Panelboards, Industrial Control Panels, Motor Controllers, Elevators, Industrial Machinery, and Transfer Equipment are all required to have short-circuit current ratings. The standard produces fault current results for an unloaded network, that is the results do not include load current and the pre-fault conditions do not take account of tap positions. To counter some of these assumptions.
